History:
Based In The Textile Rich Region Of Hyogo Japan, Niime Scarves Are Woven On Large Industrial Looms In The Traditional Style Of Japanese Weaving Called ‘Banshu-Ori’. This Method Of Weaving Was Revived By Tamaki Niime Back In 2006 After It Was Effectively Made Extinct In The Mid-80’S After Being The Traditional Method Of Weaving Kimonos Since The 1700S. Niime Brought Back “Banshu-Ori” With Her Line Of Scarves, And Later, A Full Line Of Clothing Including Dresses, Loose Tops And Voluminous Pants. In An Effort To Become Ever More Thoughtful About Her Textiles, Tamaki Niime Sought To Grow Her Own Materials, Including The Organic Cotton For Her Scarves, And Has A Working Field Next To Her Looms. Today Her Entire Process Of Making Each Niime Scarf – From The Growing Of Cotton, To The Dying Of The Thread, To The Weaving – Is All Maintained In 1 Place.
